On The Fly

Since we went back to standard time, it is close to dark when I leave the office...we have been having a lot of cloudy days, which can make for some great sunsets.  I missed the peak color on this, but still nothing to sneeze at.  Considering I was snapping as I was driving......

Wild, Wild Horses...

Oops...make that turkeys.  This is usually the time of year that the geese gaggles come visit, but this year they have been concentrating on other properties in the office complex and suddenly we have been having this gang of turkeys hanging around.  They must live in the woods in the back.  They are pretty lean, so I am thinking they are probably safe this year...I think there are nine in this gang..

Last Gasp

The leaves are mostly off the trees here at the old M & A offices, the grass is fading, and the plants have given up their ghosts...except for the day lilies that we planted back in the spring.  They have bloomed one last time, giving us a last pop of color against the faded leaves and a memory to store until spring comes and they come to life again.

Low Down

The sun rises late now, and sits lower on the horizon...by the time I get to work it is just high enough to peek through the branches and blind anyone silly enough to look out the window.

Sports Town, USA

Detroit is known for supporting their teams even when they are down...but this year they are NOT down...This guy shows typical fan loyalty...and...he's a Rush fan.

Cravings

I was having a real crave for chocolate this afternoon....so I whipped me up a little snack.  Oyster crackers, caramel sundae sauce and chocolate sundae sauce...yum...

Breakdown

I have been fighting with my old sewing machine for several years, it finally broke down and wouldn't work...I finally broke down and got a new one.

Freebies

We had one of our distributors in the office last week doing product training.  Although having all those people in the office makes it a bit hectic, it is worth it sometimes.  These king crab legs were just the beginning of my freebies...and they were very, very tasty.

Format Format Format

So in the past month I have had two, count 'em 1, 2, yeh two cards fail in my camera before I could get the pics off them.  And I had a few good shots on those cards...

The first one ... well ... that will learn me not to use my camera for storage, but instead get them on my external drive for safekeeping...my bad.

But the second one???  I took the pics and as soon as I got home I went to download them...pffft...card needs formatting...would you like to format?  Oh  and by the way?  You will lose all pictures and then it (the camera) sticks its tongue out at me...

So until I can a) get something captured and b) not have to format a perfectly good card...you are stuck with this...

Stalked!

Ok, so I'm driving down the highway the other day...headed home from work..this guy gets in front of me and starts winking at me....my first thought was "HAH...the old girl still has it", but the guy just kept winking and flirting and it was getting kind of creepy, so I passed him by. Thought that was it...but when I get to the Michigan Avenue exit, what do I see out my rearview mirror????

Whew!  Haven't seen him since.

Pikachu...almost

I promised my grandson I would make him a Pikachu amigurumi...it should have been completed a week ago, but I could not seem to manage two matching ears...finally today I succeeded.  Guess I can get rid of the third ear, huh?  Soon, Pikachu....soon.

OOOPS!

Here we have a black-eyed Susan growing in the middle of a spirea bush...should be real pretty when the spirea goes into full bloom.....but....how did it get there?

What Girls Need...

Recently a friend commented on her page that her grand daughter was amazed she didn't have a tiara...I have to admit, I am amazed also.  Every girl should have her very own tiara.  This is mine, with the wand, and some matching beads to wear to those "special" functions.  I wish the "bling" factor showed better, but I will say it sparkles and makes me sparkle too.  Fittingly, it says "Princess" across the front of the tiara.  I hope all the ladies that read this have their tiara...

Every Girl Loves A Well-Dressed....

...COOKIE MONSTER!????   I recently attended the wedding of a friend....Cookie Monster was the ring bearer...It is hard to tell in the picture, but he is wearing the full tux...and hey...that is not a clip on tie...Cookie is a classy guy...no clip-ons for him... BTW....had a GREAT time at the wedding...

Looks like a fast boat...but not sure he can go fast enough to dodge the raindrops out on the lake...

Keeping Busy

I have recently gotten back into crocheting, something that has been very sporadic in my life over the years.  For some reason I suddenly have faith in my abilities to create.  On my recent flight to Atlanta, I made myself a little purse to carry when we went to dinner.  I was quite surprised that the airlines allow crochet hooks ( and knitting needles ) on board.  Perhaps they think that only little old ladies in support hose who would never hurt a fly are the only ones that ply the craft?  Being able to do the crocheting made the flight just fly by :::snicker:::

Who Knew?

I spent the latter part of last week in Atlanta.  On Saturday we went to a gathering and sat at tables outside.  Needless to say, the slate pavers were a tad uneven....we had one rocky table....by accident, my son spotted this handy, dandy little "Shuv It" thing nearby.  Not sure if I have ever been somewhere that had these little wedges....usually people are "shuv-in'" folded napkins, scrap paper etc under the wobbly leg.  I was impressed.  But then, it usually doesn't take a whole lot to impress me  :-)

Comfy?

You wouldn't think so, yet Simon's favorite place to sleep is in the basket of magazines my DIL keeps on the table by the sectional.  He has a real nice soft, comfy bed but refuses to use it.  Cats....a mind of their own.

Times Are Bad

Even the orange barrels are starving...

Going South

So yesterday it was on the warm side...don't have to go down south when the northern temps are that high...but its a great song...

Ice Storm?

Nah...but we did get some good sized hail yesterday....was hotter'n snot and when it broke the storms came in...hail about the size of a quarter...

Iced Tea?

Lately, I have been on an iced tea kick...brew it overnight and bring to work next day.  Today I decided to stop at the McCafe and get one for a buck...but hey...look...I have that dollar off coupon from KJ.  I got me a Frappe...yummmm....started my day off right...

Oh yeh...I got the iced tea also....

Summertime....and the livin' is easy....

Interpretation

What the heck are wedcaks?  Is a wed cak as particular kind of cak?  Is a cak a form of ak?  Does it all have to do with regurgitation?  Has it something to do with Wednesday?  Ahhhhh  I know!  Somebody must have puked on a Wednesday.  Yeh!  That's it!

On The Road

I went across Canada to Niagara Falls for a few days...met up with a cousin I have not seen in 19 years...along the way, Canada has posted various signs...first in English, then in French.  A great time was had by all...

More Than It Looks

You are probably wondering why I am posting a picture of the car seat.  The thing is, although you see a seat, I see lumbar support...and ohhh how I appreciated it the last few weeks after my back betrayed me mightily.  Electric lumbar support....heated seat back...life is good and so is the new car...

Not Sure...

...who won the battle,

but I think perhaps

it was the orange barrel.  It looks far worse for the wear but you will notice that the barrel is standing free and the concrete flying bug is tethered...

Golf

I am thinking the golf leagues will be cancelled today.  Maybe they can use boats?  And floating golf balls?  Plastic clubs?  Six years and I have never seen this. The rain keeps coming, but at least it is unaccompanied by tornadoes...

Let The Sun Shine!

The sun actually came out from behind the clouds today!!  Or is it that the clouds finally got out of the sun's way (pesky ole clouds)?  One good thing about sitting this close to the window at work...I don't miss it!  We won't mention that taking this picture about blinded me.  It was worth it to feel the sun on my face!

We Can Rest Easy

I was so glad to see this rolling down the highway today!  I have been very concerned about zombies lately.

I am now the proud gramma of 3 chickens, two of them shown above.  Can't wait for the fresh eggs when next I go to visit my son and DIL.

Dare To Be Different!

Did you miss me?  Well here I am, back again.  With better weather maybe we can get something other than the daffs outside the office...

Out Of The Closet...

I left my empty basket on the table last night, in hopes the Easter Bunny would remember me...and he DID!!  After a frantic search, I finally found it in the pantry/closet...sitting right there on top of the girls' treats.  Goodness...he left me enough treats to last 6 months, and enough wine to last a night!!

Winter in the Springtime

Mother Nature played one of her tricks today.  The daffs were giving me dirty looks when I got to the office ...Sheeesh  it wasn't MY idea for snow.

Blooming

The daffodils are blooming quite nicely.  Everyday there are more in full regalia...I wish that they could last longer.  I think next fall I need to plant more bulbs, paying attention to bloom time.

At Last

The grass is turning green and the trees are finally budding.  Plants are erupting from the dirt.  I think winter might go away, after all.

Late

It was supposed to be sunny yesterday.  Apparently, no one informed the sun.  It never showed until it was time to slide beyond the horizon.

Through The Roof

No sun coming through the sun roof yesterday.  Does that mean my car has a "rain" roof?

Grey skies, bare branches and a grey water tower...someday there will be color...won't there be?

Live Wires

Every day when I get off the freeway to go home, the birds are waiting for me.  They don't seem to mind the gloom.  I know there is a scientific explanation why they don't turn into overdone squab, but it still amazes me that they can perch on the live wires with nary a care.

Leftovers

Had a friend visiting over the weekend.  We had a great time, ate some really yummy food, and enjoyed various beverages.  Last night I finished up the leftover Lambic.  I do like me some Lambic.

Overall, not particularly aesthetic...but I find it fascinating how this little drop of water reflects the tree.

Spring Cleaning

In anticipation of a friend coming to stay for a couple of days next weekend, I start spring cleaning yesterday.  This is the cleaning I had to do AFTER I finished getting the computer / guest room cleaned up for her.  Part of it, at any rate..

Haze ~ Not Purple

Full moon time again.  It's been awhile since I tried to get a shot. Some hazy almost-clouds were drfting across the sky and Sabine was trying to sneak out the doorwall while I was focused on focusing.  Still, imperfection can, in and of itself, lend to perfection on a different level.

Wearin' Of The Green

Today we celebrate the Irish in us...even if we have no Irish in us.  I am 25% Irish on my mother's side.  She also gave 25% French.  My dad, who was born in Poland, was responsible for the remaining 50%.

Around here, St. Patrick's day begins in the bars very early in the morning.  Local DJ's host parties at various bars.  Folks take the day off and celebrate, although in most cases I think they are merely celebrating an excuse to drink.  Green beer?  Yuck.  I know it tastes the same, but there is something about the green that does not appeal to this chick.  At least it is a beautiful day here...rain later, but fairly mild.  No one will freeze when they pass out in the street ;-)

I have to wonder just how many of the revelers know WHY we have a day of celebration for St. Patrick.

Do you?
