For Tammy

Robin sprung me from the home today...need to visit the surgeon and see how things are going. Tammy and KJ came to visit me yesterday....brought me my diet Vernor's, some M & M's and every trash magazine KJ could find in the check out lane. I am going to have some kind of a New Year's celebration tonight, huh.

The home's foot doc came around yesterday and trimmed the toe nails and filed them smooth....so Tammy brought the polish and did my nails....

Friday we do a home eval to see if I can manuever around by myself etc etc. Keep your fingers crossed for me.....

Miss Me??

So last Tuesday evening I got home from work and decided to take the dog for a little walk...it was snowing and she loves snow...we bundled up and off we went...til I hit the ice at the other end of my building and went down...it was a "good" fall...landed on my butt...didn' hurt my back....but gosh...my foot hurt like a son of a gun and what was that weird bump sticking out above my boot?

How I wish I had my camera with me. I could have taken some good pics for y'all. I have been laid up in the orthoopedics ward since tuesday night. The ER guys did a "reduction" and got my bones into somewhat normal shape, but the ortho surgeons came in and after looking at the xrays, decided it was a case of SURGERY! I can't remember if they did it Wednesday or Thursday, but I do remember driving down to surgery. I have been on some pretty neat drugs all week so I can't remember anything {I fell asleep on the phone while talking with two different people) .. The pain is small and tolerable.

They will try and send me to granny rehab tomorrow...they will start the search in the am and with luck I will be out of here by late afternoon.. I cannot be alone until I can use the walker and the crutches really well...I guess.

Abby is having herself a very merry little time at Robin's with Sunday and Jupiter.

I am not sure when I will be starting this thing up again...soon as I can get some pics and internet access.

Hope you all have a great Christmas. I am hoping I didn't miss all the festivities at rehab.

We've Only Just Begun

The Pile

I sorted out all the Christmas gifts I have bought over the course of the past year...I have to start wrapping soon as a good portion needs to ship out of state. As I went through the bags I just tossed all the receipts in a pile.

Cookies

I awoke today to an instant message from Shay, asking for my recipe for "melt in the mouth cookies"...Justin told her they were the best...and she needed it ASAP. So out came the cookbook that I have been using for holiday baking for the last 40 years (Yikes). As you can see, it has had a lot of use...that round cookie in the center is the "melt in the mouth" and they ARE the best.

The cookbook is one of 12 volumes that the A & P sold back in the day...buy so many $$ worth of groceries and get a volume a week for a buck (I think). My mother got me all twelve. I think she knew I was going to need all the help I could get.

I have heard from Shay..she says they are sooooo good and Justin gave them his stamp of approval.

I finally bought an iPod speaker dock..they gave me all these little cradles..who knew there were so many choices?
